A stormwater credit is a four-year term, not a permanent discount. PWD doesn’t simply roll it over; the property owner has to re-apply and demonstrate the system is still maintained and working. Here’s what that actually involves.
Credits expire on a four-year clock
Each credit expires four years from its effective date. The savings only continue if you renew before that date — PWD treats a lapsed credit like none at all.
It takes a Form C and a fee
Renewal means filing a Stormwater Credits Renewal Application (Form C) with PWD, at least 30 days before expiration, along with the required renewal fee. Late or incomplete filings put the credit at risk
PWD wants proof, not promises
Renewal hinges on evidence the SMPs still perform — inspection results, maintenance records, and a system in good condition. A neglected or deficient practice can stall or sink the renewal.
A lapse hits the bottom line
If the credit expires, your monthly stormwater charge snaps back to the full impervious-area rate — often thousands a year — until a new credit is approved from scratch.
